I served with F/2/1 at the very time they were transitioning from the M-551 Sheridan's to the M-60A1 series. Our first gunnery qualification at Ft. Hood resulted in (at that time) the best all around scores for accuracy and time for main gun and machine gun targets. The 2 top qualifying crews shared a bottle of wild duck champagne with the the CO (albeit it at 2AM in the morning following the gun run. I went to Gemany with F/2/1 to Graf and we were one of the first units to open Garlstedt (aka Karl Schurz kaserne)..that was a long train ride from Graf to Garlstedt! Brings back some good memories. I was a SP/4 at the time and had fond memories of the Metropole and Mickeys in Graf.

I would like to be a part of your association. I twice served as Chplain with the 2-1 Cav when I was assigned at Fort Hood. It has proven to be my favorite unit of all the units tha I have covered.

I was assigned to HHT support plt 2-70 to 10-70 at Song Mao I was RTO at air strip for a short time and was LTC Whitlaw's driver until unit was de-escalated to Ft.Hood,tx. I was sent to the 3/11 acr as a tractor tlr driver hauling mogas because it was too dangerous for any of their drivers .(a real bunch of j.o's) because I made sp/5 when I got there and bumped other drivers off of promotion list
